I received my Birth Bead Strand (bracelet) as a gift after the birth of my child.  I placed a memento in the ghau to remind me of
my baby and wear it when I am away from her.  When I'm having a bad day, or just need to get centered and focus on what's
really important, I hold it in my hand.  I love that it brings me right back to where I need to be!                        -D.M.  San Jose, CA
As a surprise to me at my baby shower, my sister had planned a birth bead ceremony. I had attended her Blessingway the year
before and she knew I had been so touched by the ceremony that she wanted to incorporate the bead portion in my shower.
She told the guests that we would go around the room and each person would hold up the bead they brought with them and why
they had picked that particular bead. The beads would then be strung in order after the strand of chakra beads and Goddess
pendant. As each person presented their bead, I felt their love in their words and through their choice of bead. It was truly an
amazing and overwhelming experience. I loved the way my beads looked when they were finished; each bead so unique in look and
spirit. I could feel the love and energy in the beads when I held them and knew this would be a powerful tool for me to use in my
birthing experience. I held onto my beads throughout my entire labor. They enabled me to focus, to feel calm, and to gain
strength and I was able to deliver my baby naturally as I had hoped I would. My beads now serve as a decoration surrounding the
base of a table lamp in my daughter’s nursery.                                                                                                           -Kimberly F.  Mill Valley, CA
This story is long overdue...
I was at a natural birthing event in San Jose in May 2004 and I won a raffle that allowed me to choose one of many prizes on a
table. The prizes ranged from a motherhood massage, several books, slings.... may GREAT GREAT items
INCLUDING the birthbeads. I didn't think twice... I was drawn to the beads. Not even knowing what they really meant I
grabbed them and went straight to Debora's table to see what they represented. When she explained to me their
significance I knew my instinct to have to have them was right on. I had an amazing birth. I still cry when I think about it and it was 20
months ago. I had my husband, mother and doula there and my birthing bracelet. It made me feel strong. My birth was everything I
had hoped it would be.  Since my experience I have gifted the birthing beads and got myself some chakra beads that I wear when
I feel like I need a little balance. Now pregnant with my second child I am wearing my birthing beads again. The birthbeads and
chakra beads give me an amazing feeling of calmness and empowerment. I can't explain but surely whoever wears them knows
exactly what I mean. Thank you so much!                                                                                                                ~Natasha, Los Gatos, Ca
We have a very close group of girlfriends and wanted to give our girlfriend something she can have during her wedding so she
knows that we were there with her and thinking of her.   We have a girl's weekends every 6 months or so and we all look forward
to each and every one of them.  We catch up on each other's lives and use that knowledge to make our own life's better.  We
also act silly and goofy at times.  We obviously all feel comfortable and at home with each other. This girl's weekend was right
before Kelli's wedding. She is getting married in North Carolina just her and her fiance.  Since this is her second wedding she
did not want any gifts or fanfare.  I read that this ancient Navajo tradition did not only have to be for a birth but for any major
transition a woman was going through in life and thought it was perfect for this situation.   We are all so happy for her because
this is a great guy for her and we can all tell she is truly happy and comfortable when she is with him.   Something she has been
searching for a long time.  For the ceremony we got into a circle.  I had asked each girl to bring a bead for Kelli that was either
new or from an old necklace that meant something to them.  We went around the room and each one showed the bead and told
what it meant.  I also had them write it down for Kelli so she can keep the memories to cherish.  Obviously all the beads and
meanings were from each friend were very special and meant alot to Kelli.  Many of the girl's brought a bead or piece of their
wedding jewelry, or a charm "Made with Love" and I brought a blue bead (something blue).  But one that really stood out was
from a girlfriend, Kirsten who could not make it on the trip this time. Her brother who she was very close to had died a few
years back and Kirsten had always told Kelli, "You remind me so much of my brother."  They had an instant bond.  She sent a
CD with music to play and a red bead shaped like a butterfly (looked like a kids plastic bead).  We read her note, it said, "This
bead is from my brother's necklace and I have had it since he past away.  It was broken and I was going to restring it and have not
yet.  I believe this is a sign that this bead should go to you.  I'm sorry I could not be here and hope your wedding day is all you
expect it to be."  Just then Lisa's cell phone rang and it happened to be Kirsten.  We were all stunned she called just then.
She talked to Kelli for a while and all were crying!  At the end of the ceremony a poem was read, Forever Friends!  The last
paragraph read:
No matter how distant
We'll always endeavor
To sense the full meaning
of Friendship Forever
This was such a valuable gift to give to our friend.  Thank you, Debora!                                                                 Candi,    Harris, MN
